Raipur: Polling has been issued for the first phase in the three-tier panchayat elections in Chhattisgarh. At the same time, polling in the panchayat elections is being done with a ballot paper. The counting of votes will be done after one hour of voting. Polling will be held from 6.45 am to 2 pm in Naxal-affected areas and from 7 am to 3 pm in other places. For this, more than 12 thousand booths have been built. In the first phase, 61 lakh 74 thousand 224 voters of 4,847-gram panchayats of 57 development blocks of the state will exercise their franchise. This includes 30 lakh 85 thousand 320 male voters, 30 lakh 88 thousand 835 female voters and 69 voters of the third gender. Panchayat elections in Chhattisgarh are to be held in three phases. Voting will be held on January 28, January 31 and February 3.

-Not a single voter has reached to vote in Jamunia polling station of Balrampur district. In the rural panchayat delimitation, they are boycotting the vote by accusing them of ignoring the rules.

In the first phase, votes are being cast for 42 thousand 404 posts. These include 36 thousand 473 posts for Panch, 4 thousand 620 posts of Sarpanch, 1 thousand 144 posts of Janpad Panchayat members and 167 posts of Zilla Panchayat members. The fate of 1,16,776 candidates will be decided in the upcoming election.
