Chhattisgarh, a state at the heart of India, is making a remarkable contribution to the upcoming grand consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In a gesture deeply rooted in reverence for Shri Ram and his legendary tale, the state is sending a substantial offering of 3000 metric tons of fragrant rice to Ayodhya, the maternal birthplace of Bhagwan Ram.
Ahead of the highly anticipated consecration ceremony scheduled for January 22, 2024, the entire nation is witnessing enthusiastic contributions from across the country. Chhattisgarh stands out among the states actively taking part in this nationwide endeavor, given its special association with Bhagwan Ram’s maternal lineage.
The state's generous gesture involves dispatching a massive quantity of rice—3000 metric tons—to Ayodhya. This aromatic rice, symbolizing the state's rich agricultural heritage, will play a significant role in the Mahabhandara, an integral part of the grand inauguration ceremony. The Rice Millers Association of Chhattisgarh is leading this effort, ensuring the shipment of the finest rice varieties from all 33 districts to Ayodhya.
The official send-off ceremony, to be led by State Chief Vishnudev Sai, is scheduled for December 28. The convoy of trucks carrying the rice is expected to reach Ayodhya by December 30. Chhattisgarh's decision to contribute this substantial amount of rice came following an invitation from Champat Rai, an official of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Committee, urging the state to participate in this historic event.
Renowned as the ‘rice bowl’ of the country, Chhattisgarh boasts a diverse array of rice varieties. The state’s Rice Millers Association is committed to ensuring that Ayodhya’s Mahabhandara showcases the finest produce from their region. This generous offering mirrors the unity and devotion sweeping across the nation as it prepares for this significant occasion.
The ancient Mandir, constructed in the 10th century, sits amidst a picturesque white lotus pond, creating a surreal atmosphere. It was once known as Kaushalpur city in the Treta Yuga era. Depicting Shri Ram seated in Mother Kaushalya’s lap, the Mandir is fittingly referred to as the “Nanihal” (maternal home) of Bhagwan Ram.
Legend has it that Bhagwan Ram's historic exile began with his journey from Chandkhuri in Chhattisgarh towards South India. The ongoing construction of the Ram Vanagaman Path—a road tracing Shri Ram’s footsteps during his exile—highlights the state’s dedication to preserving and honoring this significant historical narrative.
