Vijayawada: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday visited Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Temple on the occasion of Mool Nakshatra as part of Sharanavaratri festival where priests welcomed him with Poornakumbham. The Chief Minister presented silk clothes to the deity Kanak Durga Temple on behalf of the State Government. As per the tradition of the temple, the priests had given special clothes to the Chief Minister to collect.

YS Jagan reached Durga temple by chanting Veda mantras and placing silk cloth on the head of Mangalvaidyas. The Vedic scholars blessed the Chief Minister and received Tirtha Prasad. Ministers of State from Vellampalli Srinivas, Kodali Nani, MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Jogi Ramesh, Temple President Pala Sominayadu and others were present on the occasion. Meanwhile, Navratri celebrations are going on in grand style at Vijayawada Indrakeeladri.

The darshan of Goddess Durga has started and a large number of devotees have been standing in queues since last night for the darshan of the Goddess. All the queues are getting crowded due to the large number of devotees coming to pay homage to the Goddess. This time a helicopter ride over the Indrakeeladri Hill is a special attraction during the Dussehra festival. Helicopter rides have been arranged for the visitors. And people are enjoying it. Rs 6000 is being charged for a 15 minute ride.
