Jaipur: The lynching of a Dalit student by a teacher in a school in Rajasthan's Jalore for drinking water from a pot created a political furore, with the 'Sir Tan Se Juda' gang also trying their best to hide their misdeeds under the cover of this incident. But now the reality of this incident has started coming out. The way politics is being done by giving a caste angle to the incident has been exposed by the Children's Commission investigating the case. The Children's Commission, after its inquiry, has made it clear that there is no angle of 'caste' in the death of the child.
There was no caste angle in the Jalore case:
The Rajasthan State Commission for Child Rights (SCRC) visited a private school in Surana village under Jalore district and after investigation revealed that caste had no basis in the matter of slapping the child. The headmaster of this school, Chhail Singh, had slapped a Dalit student named Indra Kumar Meghwal, the child was fighting with another student over a book, and the teacher slapped both the children. Indra died in the hospital a few days after the incident. Now the members of the Children's Commission have submitted a report to the state government after talking to the students, teachers and other staff of the school. The report clearly states that the deceased student had a dispute with another student over a painting book. On this matter, the teacher slapped both the students.
Dalit and upper caste run schools in partnership:-
It is also worth noting here that the block education officer, district administration, villagers, and other children studying in the school are also saying the same things that the Children's Commission has said in its report about this incident. In such a situation, the question is, when there was nothing like this, then why was the matter given a caste angle? According to a report, Children's Commission member Shiv Bhagwan Naga has told that there was no pot to drink water in the school, teachers and all the students used to drink water from the same water tank located in the school. At the same time, it is also being told that there are two partners in the private school where this incident took place. One of them is a Rajput and the other is from the Mochi community. More than half of the teachers on the staff there are from the SC-ST community. These include Meghwal, Mochi and Bhil. Also, about 50 per cent of the children in the school are also SC-ST. In such a situation, the school which is running in partnership between the upper castes and Dalits, the staff of the place is also Dalit and upper caste together, is it necessary to question the matter of such discrimination?
According to the report, the deceased Indra had a fight with his fellow student named Mangalram. Quoting Mangalram, the Children's Commission has said that master Chhail Singh, who was passing by during the quarrel, slapped the two students when he saw them. Mangalram said that after being slapped twice, Indra had fallen in class and suffered injuries in his eyes and ears. At the same time, the commission's report also states that Indra's 13-year-old brother Naresh Kumar also studies in the same school. He has told that his brother was beaten up for drinking water from the pot during lunchtime.
Indra Kumar Meghwal was ill for 5 years:-
At the same time, a report states that the child was already ill. The deceased child Indra was suffering from chronic respiratory otitis media (CSOM), an ear disease, for about 5 years. From 2017 to 2019, Indra was treated at a hospital in Surana. The doctor there says that CSOM is a disease that causes pus, swelling, and pain in the ear. If treatment is not received on time, the infection increases so much that the patient can also lose his life. Indra's MRI report has also been reported to have stopped the infection i.e. blood supply. Experts say that infective meningitis is caused by a brain infection, due to which there is swelling in the eye. After being slapped on July 20, when Indra was examined at a private clinic in Surana on July 31, the infection was found to be increased. The child died during treatment 24 days after he was slapped on July 20.
Only one tank in the whole school, and no pot anywhere:-
Another teacher, Gataram Meghwal (a teacher of the deceased child Indra's caste), who teaches in the same school, says that he has been teaching in this school for the last 7-8 years, but he never felt any kind of discrimination. Even small children studying in the school have said that there is no pot in the school, teachers and students all drink water from the tank. Gataram Meghwal has said that so far reports have said that the child was beaten up for drinking water from the pot, but the truth is that there is nothing like discrimination in the school. He said "There is only one tank in the entire school and everyone drinks water from it. He also informed that the school has a total of 8 staff, including 5 staff from the SC-ST community. In such a situation, the question of discrimination does not arise.'' On the other hand, after the political ruckus, the recognition of this school has been cancelled. In this decision, the Children's Commission says that after the cancellation of the recognition of the school, the future of the students studying there has to be ensured.
