Children's corona vaccine to arrive in 6 months, Adar Poonawala reveals

New Delhi: Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute of India (SII), said on Tuesday that the Pune-based vaccine manufacturing company is working on a plan to launch a coronavirus vaccine for children in the next six months. Poonawala said the vaccine that will be developed for children is the corona vaccine of Novawax, an American biotechnology company.

Adar Poonawala said it will be locally prepared and produced by his company called Covovax. The media quoted Poonawalla as saying, 'We have not seen serious illness in children. There's nothing worrying about children right now. However, we will launch a vaccine for them in six months. The vaccine is expected to be for children up to the age of three.'

Adar Poonawalla was addressing an industry conference in Delhi. In the meantime, he said, 'Our Covowax vaccine is under trial. The vaccine has shown excellent data in all ways for up to the age group of three years. The vaccine will be launched in the next six months.' Children are being vaccinated in many countries of the world.
