Chennai: Ramanathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of India's twelve Jyotirlinga temples, known for its spiritual significance. Recently, on May 31, the temple witnessed a significant event known as "Undiyal Money counting," where devotees contributed generously to the temple funds. The footfall increased during the summer vacation, leading to substantial donations, swiftly filling the temple's coffers. The money counting took place in the temple's east tower hall, with the assistance of temple staff and volunteers from Salem and Thanjavur.

Following the counting, it was announced that a remarkable sum of Rs 1,35,11,800, along with 77 grams and 500 milligrams of gold, had been collected. Additionally, 4 Kg and 105 g of silver, along with foreign currency, were also contributed to the temple administration.

Ramanathaswamy Temple holds great significance for devotees seeking spiritual solace and redemption from sins. It is revered by Shaivites, Vaishnavites, and Smarthas, drawing devotees from across the country to pay homage to the deities, particularly the Ambal statue. The temple's architectural grandeur, with majestic towers, intricate sculptures, and vast corridors, adds to its allure, making it an architectural marvel.

The primary deity worshipped in the temple is in the form of a lingam, accompanied by a massive 17.5 feet tall idol of Nandi. Other deities revered at the temple include Goddess Vishalakshi, Parvathavardhini, Lord Vinayaka, Lord Subrahmanya, Utsava idol, Sayanagriha, and Perumal.
