Patna: Five of the six Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MPs had recently elected Pashupati Kumar Paras as their leader in place of Chirag Paswan. Both the factions are now claiming that their faction is the 'real' LJP. Amidst the ongoing uproar in the LJP, Chirag Paswan said on Wednesday that 'Even when my father Ram Vilas Paswan was alive, JDU was engaged in dividing the LJP. Even when I was ill, a conspiracy was hatched'.
He said that 'During the Bihar elections, even before and after that, there was a constant effort by some people, especially the JDU, to break our party. I contested the election with full support from my party, Chirag said. Some were not willing to follow the path of conflict. My uncle himself did not play any role in the election campaign. Many more MPs from my party were busy with their private elections'.
He said, "I am sad that the way this whole conspiracy was hatched behind my back when I was ill. I constantly tried to contact my uncle after the election and talk to him. Chirag said that there are reports in some places that I have been removed from the post of national president of the party. But the party's constitution says that the post of party president can be vacant in only two circumstances either if the national president passes away or he resigns'.
