New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday, August 20, proposed that Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia should rename Jabalpur airport as Rani Durgawati Airport. The CM appreciated Union Minister Jyotiraja Scindia was doing tremendous work in the aviation sector and for Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister while  Addressing the IndiGo's inaugural flight to Jabalpur Chouhan said: "If the name of Jabalpur Airport is changed after our pride Rani Durgavati, then I understand that her feelings will be respected." The CM further announced that in the coming days every airport in each district in Madhya Pradesh would be functional. Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended IndiGo's inaugural flight program virtually.

Last month, The chief minister had proposed extension of the airports at Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur, renaming of Dumna airport in Jabalpur as Virangana Rani Durgavati Airport, promotion of international flights at Indore airport, and increasing flight connectivity to Rewa, Khajuraho, Datia, Gwalior, Bhopal, and Jabalpur.
