Bhopal: Due to floods and rains in Madhya Pradesh, crops in 7 lakh hectare area of 14 districts have been damaged. State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has given information in this regard. CM Shivraj said that every possible step will be taken to compensate for the loss to farmers. He made an aerial tour of several flood-affected areas on Sunday and on Monday he inspected the ruined crop and other assets through a boat in Hoshangabad district.

During this time CM Shivraj Singh also heard problems of the villagers. He said that an investigation would be conducted to find out the cause of the breakdown of a bridge in Seoni district. He also thanked the Airforce and other agencies for assisting the government in relief and rescue operations. Madhya Pradesh has received more than average rainfall in June-August, with most dams filling up to 84 per cent. Madhya Pradesh has received nearly 13 per cent more rainfall than the normal average during June-August. Not only this, but 248 major dams of the state have also become 84.1 per cent. This level is higher than this time last year.

More than 3000 people have been evacuated in Bhandara and Chandrapur districts of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra. Many areas of these two districts are struggling with floods. In Bhandara, NDRF and SDRF and local administration teams are taking people to safer places. In the last two days, 2830 people were evacuated from Bhandara city. Floodwaters have started receding in the city, but relief and rescue operations are still going on. 500 people have been evacuated from Ladaj village in Chandrapur on Sunday.
