New Delhi: The number of complaints received by the Lokpal is not diminishing, according to Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh. The government provides Lokpal with the necessary support to enable it to carry out its statutory tasks efficiently, including the formulation of essential rules, he said.
The minister stated, "The complaints received by Lokpal do not suggest a diminishing trend." According to the latest official data, the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal received 30 complaints against senior central government officials between April and July 2021.
As per accounts, the Lokpal received 110 complaints in 2020-21, a decrease of approximately 92 percent from 1,427 complaints in 2019-20. President Ram Nath Kovind on March 23, 2019, administered the oath of office to Justice (retd) Pinaki Chandra Ghose as the chairperson of the Lokpal, the supreme authority charged with investigating and investigating claims of corruption against public officials, including the prime minister.
