New Delhi: Pakistan's Foreign Ministry has expressed serious concern over the issue by summoning an official of the Indian Embassy in Islamabad over the ongoing hijab dispute in Karnataka, with Pakistani Foreign Ministry officials condemning the decision to ban Muslim girl students from wearing hijabs in Karnataka, with top Indian diplomat Suresh Kumar responding to Pakistan's allegations as baseless. The Indian official has asked the neighbouring country to first look at its own track record.

According to information received from sources, 'He (Suresh Kumar) told Pakistani authorities that India is a secular country. The work is done according to a procedure in the country. Pakistan should look at its own track record. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson issued a statement regarding the summoning of the Indian diplomat, saying that the Indian diplomat has been requested to inform the Indian government that Pakistan is deeply concerned over the anti-hijab campaign being carried out by the RSS-BJP alliance in Karnataka. These are part of the Government of India's exclusionary and majoritarian agenda of dehumanising Muslim women.'

Pakistan's foreign minister also tweeted attacking the Indian government over the Karnataka hijab dispute. In her tweet, she wrote, "Depriving Muslim girls of education is a violation of their fundamental rights. It is oppressive to deprive anyone of this fundamental right and to terrorize them to wear the hijab. The world must understand that all this is part of the Indian government's agenda of keeping Muslims in ghettos (a cramped settlement built for the minority community).'
