The fight between CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu in Punjab ahead of the assembly elections has added to the Congress' woes. The party fears that if the confrontation between the two leaders continues to escalate, there may be a loss in the elections. But the party's difficulty is that it is not in a position to put pressure on any of the leaders. A senior Congress leader said both Captain and Sidhu are not ready to accept. Captain Sidhu is not ready to be given more than the ministerial post while Sidhu wants to become deputy CM or state president. The CM is not ready for these two posts at any cost. Sidhu, on the other hand, is not in power as a minister.
Punjab Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar says the party leadership has been informed about the situation. Trying to solve the case. After which many party leaders believe that Sidhu is doing this to create pressure. So, the party should not pay much attention. Sidhu is confined to Amritsar and has beaten Arun Jaitley from Captain Amritsar.
State Congress leaders admit that the party does not have a bigger face than the Captain in Punjab. If the party is ignoring the Captain, the victory is not going to be easy for them. The party leadership is not in a position to put pressure on the Captain after losing the assembly elections in five states. The party will have to contest the next assembly elections under the leadership of the Chief Minister Captain.
The Congress believes Sidhu does not have much choice. BJP is not expected to get much in this election after the Kisan agitation. The AAP's position is also continuously weakening. The next election is scheduled to be held between the Congress and the Akali Dal. Party leaders admit that Sidhu will not give up the Congress despite all the resentment.
