New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has responded to the criticism and the question being posed by Congress for not replacing the display picture (DP) of its social media account with the national flag tricolour, according to an appeal by PM Narendra Modi. The Sangh has said that the organization has already extended its support to Har Ghar Tiranga and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Talking to the media, RSS' all-India prachar pramukh Sunil Ambekar has said that the RSS had in July urged people and volunteers to extend full support and participation in programmes of the government, private bodies and Sangh-related organisations. At the same time, the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign of the government has become a political issue between the BJP and Congress. Congress leaders had on Wednesday put up a picture of the first PM Jawaharlal Nehru waving the tricolour in their DP. After this, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had taken a dig at the RSS and tweeted that people are running the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, they have come from an "anti-national" organisation, which did not hoist the tricolour for 52 years.

Now Sunil Ambekar hit back at Rahul Gandhi's statement, saying that the party which is raising this question is responsible for the partition of the country. At the same time, he advised keeping such issues separate from politics. He said the Sangh has already appealed to people and volunteers to celebrate the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' with enthusiasm and preparations are on. He said "This is the position of the Sangh and it is wrong to make it a political issue. There should not be sharp questions of this kind and the party raising such questions is responsible for the partition of the country.''
