New Delhi: Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's show of strength by coming to Delhi may not have gone down well with the Congress. The way Mamata Banerjee was pushing for an alternative to the Congress, it seems that the Congress is deeply hurt by it. The Congress today appealed to President Ram Nath Kovind to impose President's Rule in West Bengal. Congress says that there have been 26 political killings in Bengal in the last one month.

Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has said that he will meet the President on the issue and demand action under Article 355. Under this, the central government can take over all the control by dismissing the government by intervening in any state in the event of a disturbance. He runs the state government in the name of the President. During this time, the Governor has all the executive powers. It is on his instructions that the entire government takes decisions related to the interest of the state.

The BJP in Bengal is also very tense about the burning of 10 people alive in Birbhum. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed grief over the violence in Birbhum in West Bengal, hoping that the state government will definitely bring the culprits to justice. After inaugurating the newly constructed Viplevi Bharat Gallery at The Victoria Memorial in Kolkata, PM Modi assured the state government that whatever help it wants in bringing the culprits to justice at the earliest, the Central government will provide it.
