New Delhi: Congress has been divided into two groups over the government's decision to revoke Section 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Congress veteran Dr. Karan Singh has supported the government's decision on the issue. He also supported the removal of Article 35A. He welcomed the decision of the central government. Dr. Karan Singh is the son of Maharaja Hari Singh.

Karan Singh has said that declaring Ladakh as a union territory is a welcome step. Article 35A required the reinstatement of gender discrimination. My main concern is the welfare of all sections and regions of Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill passed in the lower house on Tuesday.

During the voting, 370 votes were cast in favour of the bill while 70 votes were voted against it. Amidst all this, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi's close aide and senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has supported the removal of Section 370. Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday endorsed the Modi government's decision to remove Section 370 and Article 35A from her Twitter handle.
