Terrorist organization threatens veteran Congress leader, investigation underway

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Police has registered an FIR after receiving a threatening letter from a terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen to a veteran Congress leader. Authorities have given information in this regard on Sunday. He said that a two-page letter written in Urdu threatened that if the mainstream leaders of Jammu region do not leave politics, they will be targeted. It has also said that Union Minister Jitendra Singh should be targeted.

Police officials said on Sunday that the letter was written on the 'letter pad' of the terrorist organization. The letter was delivered to Raman Bhalla, senior vice-president of Jammu and Kashmir Congress, via mail in his headquarters on Friday. Senior SP Sridhar Patil of Jammu said, "We have registered a case under the relevant sections and investigation is being done." Bhalla said that immediately after getting the letter, he immediately approached the police as a thorough investigation is necessary. 

The Congress leader said, "We are not afraid of such threats from anti-national elements." For the past three decades, at the behest of Pakistan, we stand firmly against the terror spread in Jammu and Kashmir and will continue to discharge our duties to make Jammu and Kashmir terrorism free, peaceful and prosperous. ''
