Mumbai: Mumbai Congress Executive Chairman and former Minister Naseem Khan has written a letter on the implementation of Muslim quota in Maharashtra. The letter seeks 5% reservation in jobs and education to Muslims and provide funds for minority community schemes. He wrote this letter to Congress Legislature Party leader and Revenue Minister in uddhav government Balasaheb Thorat on Wednesday (December 22, 2021).

Naseem Khan has written in the letter that the Muslim community has not yet received 5% reservation in the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) Government. He said that when the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party alliance was in power, he had decided to give 5% reservation to Muslim religion. The bombay high court had also given its nod to the verdict. But after that, the BJP government, which came to power in the state, did not implement Muslim reservation. It may be recalled that Naseem Khan has been a Minister in the Congress-NCP Government.

Naseem Khan has urged the Congress leader to take decisions to ensure reservation and funds for Muslim religion by the Government of Mahavikas Aghadi. He said that it has been two years since the Mahavikas Aghadi government was formed, but no decision has been taken in this direction. It has also been reminded that the Mahavikas Aghadi Government is formed under the Common Minimum Programme (CMP). Let me tell you that Naseem Khan is the same leader who was booked for molesting a woman in the past. FIR was registered against four more persons along with Naseem Khan in the case. Based on the statement of the woman, police had registered a case under sections 354, 509, 506, 323, 504 and 34 of the IPC at Andheri police station in Mumbai.
