Congress MLA assaults Delhi Police SI in Shaheen Bagh, watch VIDEO

New Delhi: Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area, which is in controversy, is once again in the headlines these days. Congress leader and former MLA Asif Mohammad Khan, who lives in the Shaheen Bagh area, has landed in controversy by abusing and manhandling a Delhi Police officer. Congress MLA Asif Khan's daughter is contesting the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.

The Delhi Police on Friday (November 25) said that former Congress MLA Asif Khan got angry at a sub-inspector when he was questioned in connection with holding a meeting without the permission of the State Election Commission. He used expletives about the sub-inspector on the mic itself. Asif Khan not only abused the sub-inspector but was also manhandled and maltreated. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Singh Bagga also posted a video of the incident from his Twitter handle.

A case under Sections 186 and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Congress MLA Asif Khan at Shaheen Bagh police station in connection with the incident.
