Mumbai: Amid the ongoing political turmoil between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena, Congress sees an opportunity for itself but the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance is yet to open its cards on the issue of support from the Shiv Sena. Former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan met NCP President Sharad Pawar on Thursday.

Maharashtra Congress unit president Balasaheb Thorat also met Pawar. According to Congress sources, the meetings were held to discuss the issues of farmers. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut met NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Giving information about this himself, he said that I had gone to wish him Diwali. We also discussed the politics of Maharashtra.

The Congress-NCP is realizing the political situation in Maharashtra. The Congress believes that as long as the BJP-Shiv Sena fight continues, it should not reveal its strategy. However, the Congress is more dependent on the NCP to take any major decision. A senior Congress leader said that NCP is our alliance partner and any decision will be taken only after discussions with Pawar.   Congress leaders hope to break the alliance on behalf of Shiv Sena.
