The Congress party on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s minority outreach and said that it cannot forget the past. In a powerful 75-minute speech in Parliament's Central Hall the PM asked the MPs to take along with everyone, and said that they have to break this "deception" as minorities were made to leave in an "imaginary fear".

Veteran Congress leader and former Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha K. Rahman Khan said that it is too early to comment on the statement of PM Modi and said that for Muslims it is hard to forget the past.

“In the last five years, the venom which the BJP and its associates have spread in this country has antagonized the Muslims. But if there is a change of heart then I welcome the statement of the PM,” said Khan. In his address yesterday the PM also instructed the MPs to take everyone along including those who have not voted for the ruling alliance and have been a bitter critic of the saffron party.

"Our mantra should be 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas' (with all, for everybody's development and having everyone's trust)," he said. The PM also accused the Congress of exploiting the minorities during the elections as vote bank politics and told the MPs to break and smash this chain of deception around minorities.

Minorities were deceived, like the poor, said PM Modi and emphasized that it would be good if their education, social and economic standards were lifted all these years. He also said that the saffron party will do everything to win their trust and termed it a big responsibility that needs to be fulfilled.
