New Delhi: An audio of Delhi riots accused Asif Iqbal Tanha is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which he is making provocative statements regarding the Hijab controversy that started in Karnataka. This conversation was taking place with Muslim organizations. The audio going viral is said to be of a recording of the Twitter space. This audio has been posted in video format by a Twitter handle named @TheAngryLord.

The title of this space was 'Karnataka Hijab Row, Will the High Court give justice?'. The conversation was hosted by Students Islamic Organization (SIO), the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. In this space, there was a discussion about the Hijab controversy going on in Karnataka. Members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its student wing Campus Front of India (CFI) were present. In this, as a speaker, Tanha was saying that, 'We have to spread this (hijab controversy) to the whole country, not just making it an issue of Karnataka. Delhi has to be made a center of agitation. Ever since that video (of police action in Karnataka) went viral this morning, it has been very disturbing. Since that time I have been continuously talking to many Muslim organizations and social workers about the issue of what we can do in Delhi. I am getting positive answers that we should also do something on this and soon we will take to the streets in their support.

Asif further said, 'Today Allah-Hu-Akbar has been trending on Twitter for the whole day, but you still go somewhere…. I myself am living in Okhla, so many people have met, many students have met who do not even know what is going on in Karnataka before the video went viral. The Muslim population here does not even know what is the issue of hijab in Karnataka. We need to take this issue door to door. It is about our rights and our identity. In the cases of CAA and triple talaq, we had said that this is a direct attack on the rights, identity and Sharia of Muslim women. Similarly it is the issue of hijab, which is in Karnataka today, tomorrow it will be elsewhere.

Delhi riots accused Asif further said that, 'Students of SIO (Student Islamic Organization) and those responsible for Muslim are already working on the ground level regarding this issue. Our GIO students are constantly on the streets. In other states also, in Mumbai also our Muslim sisters have protested. As a Muslim organization, we are taking this matter very seriously.

Let us inform that in another space hosted on 15 August 2021, Asif was also heard supporting the Taliban. The name of that space is 'Is the Muslim of the country free? Was. Even in that space, Asif had said, 'I give a good news to all of you. Ashraf Ghani has resigned. Thank Allah that Taliban is setting up the building-e-Islamia. Alhamdulillah! We should learn from Taliban what kind of struggle and efforts should be made to get freedom. Let us tell you that on this day the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.
