Indian players had a great performance in the Boxing Championship. Indian players made it to the finals in both the women and men sections. However, 3 boxers from India had to withdraw from the final match. But three boxers have not been allowed to play in their finals at the 35th Boksam International tournament in Castellon, Spain, due to an Indian player being found positive for the coronavirus.

Ashish Kumar (75 kg), who has qualified for the Olympics, has been found infected with corona and due to this, Mohammed Hussamuddin (57 kg) and Sumit Sangwan (81 kg), who are staying in a room with him, also from the final matches on Saturday. The compulsion has been removed. The gold medal of these three was believed to be firm, but due to these adverse circumstances, they had to be satisfied with the silver medal.

Ashish Kumar to be in Quarantine: Santiago Nieva, High-Performance Director of Indian Boxing told PTI from Castellon, "The start of the tournament which was a great start is said to be disappointing." Ashish has no symptoms of illness and is healthy. He is about to stay for 2 weeks quarantine in Castellon before returning to India. It has been learned that Hussamuddin and Sumit's test has come negative and they are going to return home with the team on Monday. The Indian team will reach Mumbai from Spain. Satish Kumar (over 91 kg) will also not be able to participate in the final due to ill health.
