The district deputy commissioner will now make arrangements to give mid-day meal to the children of government schools closed in Himachal for protection from coronavirus. The Directorate of Elementary Education has instructed all the Deputy Directors to discuss the matter with the Deputy Commissioners. Due to the lockdown till March 31 in the state, the ration and cooking cast of the mid-day meal has not been given yet. Due to this, Director Rohit Jamwal issued a letter asking the district officials to take up the matter with the concerned Deputy Commissioners.

According to the instructions of the central government, parents are to be called to schools one by one and given money for ration and cooking cast. Cooking cost will also be paid per child per day at the rate of Rs 4.48 from first to fifth grade and Rs 6.71 from sixth to eighth grade. Director of Elementary Education Rohit Jamwal said that according to the rule, it is mandatory to give mid-day meal to children studying in government schools.

It is also the right of children. According to the instructions of the central government, the state government has decided to give ration to the children studying in the closed schools. The Director of Elementary Education told that parents should be called to take ration quota in such a way that there is no crowd in schools. He informed that ration quota will be provided to the children from the first to the fifth grade on the basis of hundred grams of rice per day and the children of sixth to eighth grade, according to 150 grams of rice per day. The details of ration to be given to parents will also have to be made by teachers in schools. The information of the ration allocated to the block initial officer will also have to be made available on a regular basis.
