Dehradun: Private hospitals will be given ventilators on behalf of the Government for the treatment of serious patients with COVID-19 infection. No fee will be charged from private hospitals for the same. But it will be the responsibility of the hospitals to fix the ventilator in case of a technical defect. Health Secretary Amit Singh Negi has issued instructions in this regard. As COVID-19 infected patients are increasing by leaps and bounds, the government has approved treatment in private hospitals.
Many hospitals are treating COVID-19 infections after receiving government approval. But they do not have adequate ventilators. The state government has received adequate ventilators from the Centre. The department has additional ventilators after fulfilling the need of government hospitals. According to an order issued by Health Secretary Amit Singh Negi, these ventilators will be used only for the treatment of COVID-19 infected patients. Private hospitals will have to return ventilators after COVID-19 infection is over.
Based on the report of the Collector and CMO, ventilators will be provided to private hospitals. This decision of the government will curb the difficulties of private hospitals. Serious patients will be able to get ventilator on time. The government emphasises on increasing sample testing to control COVID-19 infection. The lab set up at Doon and Srinagar Medical College will now test two thousand samples daily.
