Due to covid-19, there will be no Kavad Yatra this year. The government of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have taken this decision collectively to postpone the yatra. Through video conferencing on Saturday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar discussed in detail about the Kanwar Yatra. In the meeting, there was a collective agreement that the Kawad Yatra should be postponed in view of the circumstances of Kovid-19.

The state governments have also received the same proposal from the Kanwar associations and saint-mahatmas. The Kanwar yatra was to be conducted in the month of July. Kawandis reach Haridwar in the number of crores. Ganga water from Haridwar is filled in Kavad and Jalabhishek is done in Shiva temples here. During the Yatra, many arrangements have to be made regarding law and order and transport from the government level. Haridwar city also has to be closed during this period due to the large number of Kavandis. Most of the kawandis come from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Accordingly, the state cabinet had decided to hold talks with the chief ministers of both the states. During the talks, officials of the three states expressed apprehension about the spread of infection due to covid-19.

For your information, let us tell you that the inability to control the huge crowd was expressed under the guidelines of covid-19. It was decided in the meeting that to prevent covid-19, it is very important that people should be prevented from gathering in large numbers. People can perform Jalabhishek by following locally prescribed guidelines. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has decided to hold talks with the Chief Ministers there soon due to the devotees visiting Punjab, Rajasthan and Delhi. These states will also be made aware of the problems faced by the covid-19. This time the conditions of not operating the trip will also be given.
