New Delhi: The court has sent Soumya Chaurasia, deputy secretary of Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, to judicial custody till December 19 in the money laundering case. Soumya is considered very close to Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel. Soumya Chaurasia was presented in the Raipur court by the Central Investigation Agency Enforcement Directorate. ED had sought 14 days of judicial custody for Soumya, but the court has sent Soumya to judicial custody for 5 days.
The probe agency arrested Soumya Chaurasia on December 2 under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He was kept in ED custody for 12 days. On Wednesday (December 14), the investigating agency produced her in court. ED seeks 14 days of judicial custody of Soumya. The court has sent her to judicial custody for 5 days. That means Soumya will be in jail for the next 5 days. She has been sent to the Central Jail in Raipur. Let us tell you that ED raids are going on in Chhattisgarh for the last two months. ED had arrested 4 people besides an IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi after conducting raids in several cities.
The ED had told that a large-scale scam was taking place in Chhattisgarh in coal transportation. According to the ED's statement, several top politicians and officials were involved in the scam. ED told that illegal earnings of Rs 2-3 crore were being made daily from this scam. According to ED, the mastermind of this entire scam is Suryakant Tiwari. Suryakant along with his associates was executing this scam. Crores of rupees were being earned by making illegal recoveries. The ED claimed that black money of at least Rs 540 crore has been made in the last two years.
Explain that the investigating agency has so far provisionally attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs 152.31 crore in this case. ED has arrested 5 people in this case so far. ED raided a total of 75 different places. More than 100 people have been questioned in this case. The ED had also arrested Soumya Chaurasia, considered the 'Super CM' of Chhattisgarh. Now the court has sent Soumya to 5 days of judicial custody. She will be produced in court again after 5 days.
