Raigad: A major explosion took place in a company in the Alibaug area of the Raigad district of Maharashtra at around 5 pm on Wednesday. In this accident, a management trainee along with two other persons died on the spot while 3 people were badly injured. According to the report, the explosion took place in the compressor of an AC at the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF) plant.
As soon as the news of the explosion was received, the fire brigade vehicles reached the spot. They started the rescue operation. Raigad police said the accident occurred during the repair of an AC of the plant, the report said. Raigad District Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge said an investigation was underway into the accident. A case will be registered at Alibaug police station. The injured persons have been admitted to a local hospital, he said.
On the other hand, corona cases have started increasing again in Maharashtra. The trouble is that 18 cases of the XBB variant have been reported in the state so far this month. This is another subvariant of omicron itself. Due to this subvariant, there has been a spurt in corona cases in Singapore, it is also being described as more infectious. Now cases of the same variant are being reported in Maharashtra. In view of the situation, the BMC has issued guidelines saying that people should be careful, as the new variants are more infectious than other sub-variants of Omicron such as BA.2.75.
