Dehradun: A landslide occurred near Lamari on Dharchula-Lipulekh road in Uttarakhand. Due to this, the army car was damaged due to the fall of the boulder. At the same time, one worker working on the road died in the landslide, while two army soldiers were injured. The injured persons have been admitted to Dharchula hospital. The army vehicle was coming from the Lipulekh border towards Dharchula when the boulders fell. The Lipulekh road has been completely blocked after the landslide.

The Gangotri highway was blocked at around 5 am on Monday near Thirang when boulders and debris fell on them. Due to this, vehicles going to Kanwaria and Chardham got stuck. After the landslide, the BRO team was able to partially open the highway after about 5 hours of hard work, after which the Kanwariyas riding the two-wheeler were evacuated. After this, at about 3 pm, the highway was fully operational.

Boulders had fallen from a hill near Charan Mandir on July 24 on Tanakpur Jauljibi Road in Purnagiri. Yogesh Pandey, a resident of Tanakpur and his friend Sanju Tiwari, was leaving on a scooty at the time of the landslide. In an attempt to save itself from the debris falling from the mountain, his scooty fell into the Sharda river. Yogesh died in the accident while Sanju was seriously injured. The deceased youth was the son of the priest of the Purnagiri Temple.
