Kochi: In Kerala, the death toll due to landslides has increased to 55 in Pettimudi, Idukki District. On Wednesday, 3 more bodies trapped in the rubble have been recovered during the relief operation to search for the missing people. Officers told about this that after taking the bodies of all the people, further action is being taken now.

In Pettimudi near Rajamala, NDRF, firefighters and police department personnel are engaged in the search for the missing fifteen people. All these people have been missing since 7 August. In this regard, the officers told that till now we have removed the bodies of 55 people. We had saved 12 people earlier. 15 people are currently missing. Officer H Dineshan in Idukki has told the media that the search is going on continuously at the scene since 6 days. The weather is currently favorable for the search campaign. Officer Dineshan said that 82 people were affected in the landslide on August 7.

Due to heavy rains and floods in many parts of the country, people have become unhappy. In view of this, the United Nations has offered humanitarian aid. UN Secretary-General spokesman Stephen Dujarric said that more than 770 people have died in the country during the monsoon. According to officials, more than 5 lakh people have been evacuated from their homes to safe places. In view of this, the United Nations is ready to provide humanitarian aid to the most affected communities.
