Dehradun: The senior superintendent of police in Dehradun, Ajai Singh, recently unveiled a state-of-the-art drone named Flying Hawk. This drone is set to be deployed for overseeing traffic violations, unauthorized parking, and temporary blockades on roads.

Under an agreement with Mumbai-based company Idea Forge Technology Limited, the Dehradun police will utilize these advanced drones to continuously survey major city roads, including Chakrata Road, Shimla Bypass Road, Saharanpur Road, Haridwar Bypass Road, Rajpur Road, and East Canal Road. The primary goal is to enforce traffic regulations and ensure smoother traffic flow in these areas. Additionally, the drones will aid in maintaining law and order during religious processions and public gatherings, while also keeping an eye on temporary disruptions causing traffic congestion.

Initially, only two drones will be employed to monitor these specified zones. However, depending on their performance, more drones may be added to cover a broader area within the district, as stated by Singh. Operating from the Police Office in Dehradun and the control room in ISBT, these drones will facilitate real-time surveillance of activities along the designated routes.

Furthermore, senior district officials will have live access to these drones, enabling them to monitor their operations and current locations as needed. Surveillance operations utilizing these drones commenced on Thursday, with Singh emphasizing the police's commitment to addressing the city's traffic concerns. He also mentioned that the police are exploring additional strategies to alleviate traffic issues across Dehradun.
