NEW DELHI: The Chief of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Zulfiquar Hasan, announced on Friday that the Delhi airport is set to introduce comprehensive full body scanners by May 2024. This implementation marks a significant step in bolstering security measures within the airport premises.

Despite initial plans, Hasan highlighted that certain provisioning issues have led to an extension of the deadline for installing both full-body scanners and CTX scanners in specific airports. Originally slated for completion by December 31, the revised timeline ensures a more deliberate and meticulous installation process.

The introduction of CTX (Computer Tomography X-ray) scanners holds the promise of streamlining security procedures. Once operational, these scanners will eliminate the need for passengers to remove their electronic devices from their baggage during the customary security checks at airports.
