New Delhi: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued a warning to the Kerala government, stating that if the Justice Hema Committee's report is not released within 15 days, an independent investigation into the problems faced by female actors in the Malayalam film industry will be conducted.

NCW Chairman Rekha Sharma wrote to Kerala Chief Secretary VP Joy to communicate the report's findings and suggestions. In a press conference held yesterday, the NCW Chairman said that the Kerala film industry has been beset by workplace sexual harassment charges for several years.

In addition, the Commission will contact members of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) to discuss the matter. Despite necessary government directives, Sharma claims that the state's production firms have not formed an internal committee to address the challenges faced by women.

"The Justice Hema Committee has been in existence for quite some time. I went to Kerala two months ago to highlight this matter since many people had come to meet me there in response to the Justice Hema Committee findings. The internal committee report or any report of sexual harassment should be submitted within three months, according to the report, which has yet to be released "Sharma stated his opinion.  She further stated that on March 22, she returned and addressed a letter to the Chief Secretary seeking a thorough report.
