NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Memmber of Parliament Manoj Tiwari on Tuesday said he has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a series of tweets, he said: "Could not attend the Uttarakhand-Rudrapur campaigning on Monday as I was not feeling well from January 2 night. I have tested positive for Covid-19. Taking precautions, I had isolated myself yesterday only.

"Please take care of yourselves and your family." Earlier on Tuesday morning, Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also announced that he had also tested positive for Covid-19, mentinong that he was isolating at residebnce and with mild symptoms. He, too, was campaigning in the poll-bound state of Uttarakhand till Monday.

Both the BJP and Aaam Aadmi Paty  are campaigning extensively in the poll-bound states where Assembly elections will be scheduled this year.

The Covid-19 situation in Delhi is deteriorating on a daily basis, triggered by the Omicron variant. On Monday, 4,099 new infections were reported in the national capital, with a positivity rate of 6.89 percent. Both are the highest since May 18, 2021, when the city recorded 4,482 new cases with a 6.89 percent test positivity rate. So far, 351 Omicron cases have been found in the capital, with 57 of them being released from the hospital.
