NEW DELHI: Actress Jacqueline Fernandez was served a summons by a Delhi court on Wednesday asking her to appear before it on September 26 in connection with an alleged extortion case involving con artist Sukesh Chandrashekhar. This development came after the Enforcement Directorate named Jacqueline in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case.

Special judge Parveen Singh of the Patiala House Court called the actress to appear before the court on September 26 after taking note of the second supplemental chargesheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate.
A detailed order will be made available later in the day. Jacqueline's fixed deposits were recently attached by the ED, who claimed they contained contaminated funds. On August 17, the FBI submitted the second supplemental charge sheet in the case involving the actress.

The investigation agency had Jacqueline's FDs worth Rs 7.2 crore attached, claiming they were the proceeds of crime.

Pinky Irani, who is claimed to be Chandrashekhar's assistant and who is said to have introduced him to Bollywood actresses, was the target of the ED's first supplemental prosecution charge, which was submitted in February. According to the charge sheet, Pinky would pick out expensive gifts for Jacqueline and then deliver them to her home after Chandrashekhar had paid for them.

The ED had submitted the initial charge sheet in this case in December of last year. Chandrashekhar spent almost Rs 20 crore on presents for Bollywood stars and models, some of whom turned them down. Jacqueline has confessed to have got expensive gifts from Chandrashekhar.
