New Delhi: A Delhi court has slapped Mehmood Pracha, the lawyer of the riot accused in the capital. The reprimand comes to Mehmood Pracha because he argued in court that "only Muslims were targeted and implicated in false cases during the 2020 Delhi riots. Pracha has also said in court that the Delhi riots were not actually communal riots.

Additional Sessions Judge Virendra Bhat on November 11, while hearing the bail plea of accused Arif, lashed out at advocate Mehmood Pracha. He said, "The police did their job with all sincerity, not on communal grounds. An eyewitness can be threatened by the accused. Your arguments are baseless. The court then dismissed the bail plea of the accused Arif. The case pertains to the murder of Alok Tiwari near Shiv Vihar Tiraha on February 25, 2020, who sustained several serious injuries. According to the post-mortem report, 13 sharp and pointed weapons were present on the body of the deceased. Arif, who was charged in two separate cases of murder during the riots, is also under investigation.

It may be recalled that advocate Mehmood Pracha claims to have fought the case of "victims" in the Delhi riots free of cost and also supports the narrative of an undeclared emergency in India. Not only in court, but also through social media, they continue to spread their propaganda. Jamaat Ulema-e-Hind had also hired Mehmood Pracha to fight the case of several terrorists. Advocate Mehmood Pracha is also a member of the Delhi branch of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He is also the President of the South Asia Minority Lawyers Association. Also, since July 2017, Pracha has been running a campaign called 'Dalit, Minority and Tribal Lives Matters' in India on the lines of America's 'Black Lives Matters'.
