New Delhi: major fire broke out in Delhi's Gandhinagar area on Wednesday (October 5) evening. Dozens of shops were gutted in the fire, as well as damage to goods worth crores of rupees. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the fire department gathered from all the areas of Delhi and sent 35 vehicles to the spot, who controlled the fire by using water cannon for several hours. It is a matter of relief that no casualty has been reported in the accident.

According to the information, Asia's largest clothing market is in Delhi's Gandhi area. A fire broke out in a shop in a 3-storey building built in the same market on Wednesday evening. As soon as the spark of fire started coming out, people immediately informed the fire department. The fire brigade initially sent 4 vehicles to the spot. But, when the fire was not brought under control, fire tenders from various fire stations of Delhi were called to the spot wirelessly. Along with sprinkling water on the fire in the shops, people trapped in the market were also evacuated.

On receiving information about the accident, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, calling it unfortunate. He wrote in the tweet, ''This incident of fire in the textile market of Gandhinagar is very unfortunate. The fire brigade is busy extinguishing the fire. I am taking full details of the incident from the district administration. May Lord Shri Ram keep everyone well.''
