Lucknow: Due to heavy rains in the Asandra area of Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, the current came down in the Durga Puja pandal in Basaigapur village. In this, a 40-year-old man named Somnath died. It is being told that 17-year-old Rohit also lost his life in the shock of uncle Somnath's death. There was an outcry after the death of two people in the village. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and started investigating the matter.

After getting information about the accident, SDM, CO along with the police team reached the spot. People here have informed that a pandal has been set up in the village for the worship of Mother Durga. Due to heavy rains, the current came down in the pandal. During this time many people were electrocuted. Somnath, 40, of the village was electrocuted. Somnath's 17-year-old nephew also fainted. The police rushed both of them to the hospital, where the doctors declared both of them dead. Police have sent both the bodies for post-mortem.

SDM, Tehsildar and CO of Tehsil Ram Snehi Ghat, who reached the spot, visited the spot along with the police force. It is being told that the Bhandara was being organized when the accident took place. The SDM has said that a person has died due to electrocution during Durga puja Bhandara. A 17-year-old nephew has also died in the shock of his uncle's death. The investigation of the case is currently underway.
