Delhi High Court grants bail to Irshad Ahmad in Delhi Riot Case

New Delhi: Irshad Ahmed, an aide of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain, accused in the Delhi riot case, has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court. The court said, there is no doubt that the police does not have CCTV footage, photograph, or any other evidence against the accused Irshad in the case.

Justice Suresh Kaith, while commenting, directed the accused Irshad to be released on bail. He said that according to the prosecution, there are statements of two police personnel who claim to be the eyewitness to the incident themselves and have also identified Irshad and the other accused, but both the policemen did not complain of any kind on the day of the incident and the case was registered on 28th February.

The High Court said, the police has completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet in the court in the case. An order is issued to release the accused on bail without making any comment on the facts. Delhi police had made the accused Irshad in the riot case after the statement of the accused and former councilor Tahir Hussain. The police had registered a case against Irshad under section 147, 148, 149, 427, 436, and Delhi Police Act of IPC.
