New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has stressed the need for a uniform civil code in the country. Ruling in a divorce case, the court said a uniform civil code is required in the country. The court said the country has risen above religion, caste, community. Justice Pratibha M Singh in her judgment said that today's India has risen above religion, caste, community. In modern India, the barriers of religion, caste are rapidly breaking down. This rapid change is also causing problems in interreligious and interracial marriages or divorces.

The verdict says that a uniform civil code should be applicable in the country so that today's younger generation does not have to face these problems. The uniform civil code that was expected in Article 44 should no longer be expected but should be turned into a reality. In fact, the question arose before the court whether divorce should be treated as per the Hindu Marriage Act or as per the Meena tribe rule.

In fact, the husband wanted divorce according to the Hindu Marriage Act, while the wife said that she came from the Meena tribe, so the Hindu Marriage Act does not apply to her. For this reason, the application of divorce in the family court filed by her husband should be rejected. The husband had filed an application in the high court against the same plea of his wife. The court accepted the husband's appeal and felt the need to enforce the uniform civil code. The high court in its judgment also asked that the decision be referred to the law ministry so that the law ministry could consider it.
