New Delhi: A petition filed on the PM Cares Fund came up for hearing in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday. The court objected to the central government filing a 1-page reply on the matter. The High Court said that how can you file a 1-page reply on such an important issue? At the same time, the court has asked the central government to give a detailed reply within four weeks. The matter was heard by a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramanium Prasad.

The court said, "You have filed a reply. A page answer to such an important issue? Nothing more than that? There is nothing with regard to the argument that the senior advocate (petitioner) is making. You have to file a reply. This is not so easy, we want a comprehensive answer. The petitioner, Samyak Gangwal, had filed the petition in 2021 through senior advocate Shyam Divan. They have demanded the court declare the PM CARES Fund as a government fund under Article 12 and make the audit report public on the PM CARES website from time to time. The matter was heard in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.

Realising the importance of the issue related to the PM Cares Fund, the court has sought a detailed reply on the issue. The counsel, appearing for the Centre, told the court that a detailed reply has already been filed in a similar petition by the petitioner. Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, said all these arguments raised by the petitioner were relevant to the verdict.  To this, the court said that the matter will definitely go to the Supreme Court and we have to make a decision. You also have to give a verdict. All the issues raised have to be dealt with, so a detailed reply should be filed on this issue. The court said that a detailed reply should be filed within four weeks. If there is a response after that, it should also be filed in two weeks.
