Delhi Police caught 'Thak-Thak' gang, arrests 4 for stealing laptops

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police detained four members of the infamous Thak-Thak gang, who use car window rattling to divert drivers' attention so they can be robbed. One of the arrested suspects is a supporting actor in Tamil movies, police said.

Dheenathayalone (24), Raju (54), Karupa Samy (37) and Murti have been named as the defendants (24). According to the police, they are all currently live in Shakurpur in Delhi, although they are all from Tamil Nadu. Police believe that by apprehending them, they have also solved four theft instances that had been reported throughout the city. Four stolen laptops have been found in the accused's possession


police said, Dheenathayalone has also contributed as a "junior artist" to Tamil movies.

The responsibility of investigating incidences of thefts of computers and other expensive items from vehicles was given to the team of Proclaimed Offenders (PO) and Jail-Bail Cell in the Dwarka district, according to M. Harsha Vardhan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Dwarka district.

The team visited each and every scene of an event and examined the CCTV footage to determine the location and path taken by the thieves while keeping the goal in mind, according to the DCP.

"On October 16, specific information about an active Thak Thak gang in Dwarka and the surrounding district was received. In response to the information, a police force carried out raids in the Sakurpur neighbourhood and all four suspects were apprehended. They had four stolen laptops that were also found in their backpacks ""DCP," he stated.
"The gang members admitted during questioning that they had stolen laptop bags and shattered vehicle windows on several dates and locations. They  also admitted to being involved in numerous theft instances, ""DCP," he claimed.

A senior police officer in the meantime reported that all police stations and district crime sections have been requested to keep a careful eye on these gangs' operations. He added that since they hunt in packs, "there should also be electronic surveillance on their activities."

The senior police officer described the gang's method of operation, noting that they consistently hang out near big intersections, bridges, and even close to less trafficked areas.

"When the people inside the cars are preoccupied with their alibis, they attack, and by the time the victims realise something is wrong, they have vanished. The other gang member would rapidly remove items from the vehicle, including laptops, as soon as the car driver got out. They would vanish instantly, "the policeman said.
