Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has captured assets worth more than Rs 30 crore from one Archana Nag who was recently detained for allegedly honey trapping and blackmailing many people, including politicians and manay from the film industry.
The arrests were charged earlier in October. . The police were informed that Nag's spouse is also allegedly involved in her illicit activities.
As per accounts, about 15 girls were involved in the racket that allegedly used honey traps and extortion to coerce powerful people, including politicians, into handing over their private photos. The woman's two mobile phones and two pen drives, which include the obscene recordings, have been seized by police.
During inquiries, the accused's opulent lifestyle also came to light. As per reports, Archana and her husband possessed owned a fleet of vehicles, 4 pet dogs and a horse, bungalows, a farmhouse and so on.
According to police sources, Archana and her husband Jaga Bandhu were continuing to blackmail these powerful businessmen and politicians while in possession of certain undesirable film tapes of them. By making false accusations against them, the accused used to target prominent figures like politicians, ministers, and movie producers in order to demand money from them.
"On October 2, a complaint was made against Archana Nag at the Khandagiri police station. She has a case 496/22 filed against her under the 387, 420, and 506 IT Act. Her strategy involved first becoming very cunning acquaintances with the victims. Then she invited them over to her home and had sex with them. The victims, who come from prominent backgrounds, were later subjected to intimate videos that were secretly captured and blackmailed "said Prateek Singh, the DCP for Bhubaneswar, in a press statement.
