The Gadilli police has filed a chargesheet in the sedition case of JNU student Sharjeel Imam in Patiala House court in Delhi. Delhi Police has filed this charge sheet under the UAPA Act. Police has also added sections 153 (a) (b), 505 and 13 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 of IPC with treason.

During the agitation in Shaheen Bagh against CAA, Sharjil gave a provocative speech on Imam. After this act, Sharjeel has been accused of instigating particular community and damaging the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. The Sharjil Imam is accused that he had announced to "block the traffic" to people of a particular community by stopping the highways leading to major districts. Due to which normal life was interrupted. He also openly defied the Constitution and called it a "fascist" document. Opposing the 'CAA', he promoted 'Chicken Neck', which mainly connects the country to the Northeast, in front of everyone. He was seen to defy and disregard the democratic content of protest in every way.

The team investigating the matter came to know about the Sharjil Imam that he had also sent posters to incinerate the areas close to the mosque. This was revealed when the police investigated the laptop of Sharjeel Imam. Pictures of all those posters have been recovered from it. The lower court on April 25 gave the investigating agency another 90 days to complete the investigation of the case. After getting the time, the police had said that the epidemic and lockdown would affect the investigation.
