It is common to have pain during periods, but sometimes this pain can increase more than normal. If a woman is facing a lot of pain during periods, then she may need to make some changes in her lifestyle and diet. With this, you can reduce the pain of periods to some extent.

Causes of period pain

Period pain is called dysmenorrhea. The intensity of this pain can be quite different from normal period pain. Many people have the notion that period pain increases with age, but this is not always true. Period pain can also be caused by some hormonal imbalances or health problems.

Causes of Dysmenorrhea

There are two types of dysmenorrhoea:

  1. Primary dysmenorrhea : This occurs a few years after periods start and is usually caused by increased levels of prostaglandin. Prostaglandin is a hormone involved in the contraction of the ovaries.
  2. Secondary dysmenorrhea : This may be due to another health problem such as endometriosis or adenomyosis. These problems can develop during the reproductive years and can worsen period pain.

According to studies, about 50% of women face menstrual pain. This pain can cause a lot of difficulty in everyday life for some women.

Ways to reduce period pain

  1. Lifestyle changes : Changing your lifestyle can help reduce period pain. Eat a diet rich in vitamins and nutrients, exercise regularly, and follow stress management techniques.

  2. Track your period cycle : Track your period cycle so you can gain insight into pain patterns, severity, and possible triggers.

  3. Pelvic floor exercises : Maintain pelvic floor health through exercise. This can help with overall pelvic relaxation.

With these measures, you can control your period pain to a great extent and improve your lifestyle.
