The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has said that it is constantly communicating with e-retailers and e-commerce companies to ensure that the supply chain of essential services continues in a planned manner. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday had a conversation with stakeholders of e-commerce and logistics industry through video conferencing. In this, the challenges facing them due to lockdown and their solutions were discussed.

In this meeting, representatives of companies like Snapdeal, ShopClues, Flipkart, Grofers, Netmeds, FormEG, 1 MGTech, UDAN, Amazon India, Big Basket and Jometo were included. Representatives of big retail operators like Cherry, Walmart, Delhi, SafeExpress, Paytm and Swiggy also attended the meeting.

Regarding this supply chain, it was further stated that 'Standard steps have been issued to the State Governments to handle various aspects related to the supply of essential goods due to the steps taken by DPIIT and Ministry of Home Affairs'. The office has also extended the date of compliance of various rules, filing of replying, payment of fees and many other tasks. The statement says that many people will benefit from this.
