New Delhi: Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that if all goes well, by the end of this year India will get a coronavirus prevention vaccine. Three corona vaccines are in various stages of clinical trials in the country, out of which two vaccines are indigenously manufactured. Dr Balaram Bhargava, Director General of the Indian Council of Ayurvedic Research (ICMR), recently reported that the first phase of human clinical trials of two indigenous vaccines of Corona has been completed and the trial has reached the second stage.

One of these vaccines has been developed by Bharat Biotech in association with ICMR and the other vaccine has been made by Zydus Cadila Limited. The Serum Institute of India, Pune, has been allowed to conduct human clinical trials of Phase II and III of a potential vaccine for coronavirus developed by Oxford University. They can start testing next week.

Dr Vardhan tweeted on Saturday "I hope that if all goes well, India will get the coronavirus vaccine by the end of this year." Meanwhile, the ICMR is creating a portal to provide information about the development of Corona vaccines in India and abroad, which will provide information in several regional languages in addition to English. Samiran Panda, chairman of the Department of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases at the ICMR, told that the portal could start by next week.
