New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully test-fired a state-of-the-art missile to boost the strength of the Indian Army. DRDO successfully tested a short-range ballistic missile near the Odisha coast on Wednesday. The missile is called 'Pralay.' In a statement issued, DRDO said, "India successfully test-fired a short-range, surface-to-surface guided ballistic missile 'Pralay' near the Odisha coast.''

The solid-fuel, battlefield missile, built by DRDO, is based on the Prithvi Defence Vehicle of the Indian Ballistic Missile Programme. Sources said the missile launched from APJ Abdul Kalam Island at around 10.30 am fulfilled all the objectives of the mission. The 'Pralay' is a 350-500 km short-range, surface-to-surface state-of-the-art missile with a payload capacity of 500-1,000 kg.

Speaking of the characteristics of this missile, it has the power to hit the earth with the most accurate target. This short-range missile has the capability to strike the enemy for about 500 km. According to DRDO, the Pralay missile has the power to carry explosives weighing up to 1000 kg.
