Surat: Earthquake tremors were felt in Gujarat's Surat on Saturday. An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 is measured on the Richter scale. There was no loss of life or property due to this earthquake. According to the agency, an official of the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) said that the intensity of the earthquake was 3.8. At the same time, an officer of the District Disaster Management said that the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 5.2 km. Its center was in the Arabian Sea. There was no loss of property or life due to the earthquake.

According to the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), the risk of earthquakes in the state is very high. Therefore, Gujarat is in the high-risk zone. There have been tremendous earthquakes in the years 1819, 1845, 1847, 1848, 1864, 1903, 1938, 1956, and 2001. Whereas, the 2001 Kutch earthquake in Gujarat was the third largest and second most destructive earthquake in India in the last two centuries, killing over 13,800 people and injuring 1.67 lakhs.
