EC's remarkable decision- Postponed Andhra Pradesh and Telangana legislative council elections

New Delhi: The number of patients infected with corona virus in the country is steadily increasing. A large number of corona patients are coming to the fore day by day. The death toll from corona does not seem to be coming to a halt. The Election Commission has postponed the biennial elections to the upcoming Legislative Councils of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The Election Commission has said that the matter will be considered after the situation improves. In view of the alarming situation of corona virus, the Election Commission of India on Thursday said that the Election Commission reviewed the matter and decided that due to the second wave of corona epidemic, it would not be right for legislative councils of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to hold biennial elections till the epidemic situation improves and the atmosphere adapts to the elections.

The Election Commission has faced a lot of criticism for holding assembly elections in four states and one Union Territory, including West Bengal, amid the second wave of corona epidemic. Since then, the Commission has been taking a bold step.
