Bhopal: Elections have been held unopposed for three seats in Madhya Pradesh's Rajya Sabha elections scheduled to fall vacant on June 29. Two BJP candidates Kavita Patidar and Sumitra Valmiki and one Congress candidate Vivek Tankha were declared elected unopposed. This is the first time that Tankha will reach the Rajya Sabha for the second time.

The term of the Rajya Sabha, comprising three members from Madhya Pradesh, will end on June 29, including two of them Sampatiya Uikey and MJ Akbar of the BJP and Vivek Tankha of the BJP. While the BJP had fielded new candidates Kavita Patidar and Sumitra Valmiki in its two vacant seats, the Congress had given a second chance to Tankha after the end of its first term. The nomination papers of all the three candidates were found to be correct in the retrenchment and their elections were declared unopposed as only 3 candidates were in the fray.

In Madhya Pradesh, there are 11 seats for the Rajya Sabha, out of which 8 seats are with the BJP and 3 seats are with the Congress. Out of the bjp's eight seats, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia, M Murugan, Sumer Singh Solanki, Ajay Pratap Singh, Kailash Soni are rajya sabha members and now two women Kavita Patidar and Sumitra Valmiki are going to rajya sabha. Out of the three Congress seats, Digvijay Singh and Rajmani Patel are currently in the Rajya Sabha. Vivek Tankha has been sent to the Rajya Sabha by the Congress for the second time.
